I once had a client who came to see me who - for the sake of interest - was about thirty years of age, with an expensive new car and covered in expensive gold jewellery and the best hand made clothes and shoes. She was in and out of the hairdresser and manicurist every five minutes with no financial problems whatsoever. Yet she got very stroppy about a psychic charging her. She thought it was fine to turn up at the house of a psychic - very often someone who was struggling to pay their normal bills and had a far less glitzy lifestyle than her - sit there for hours listening to free guidance and predictions and then just walk off.
I have met various people over the years who have this idea that psychics have a gift which they should willingly share without any thought of charging. But they forget that we all have gifts. The musician has been blessed with his talent with music but he charges us to go and listen to him. The chef who can prepare a delicious meal charges us for that. But it is not just for the gift it is also for the time and energy. When I first started charging I did it because otherwise I was getting people knocking on the door all hours thinking that whenever I opened the door I had to either let them in - even if I was with visitors or just about to go out. If I had let all of them come in and stay as much as they wanted I would never have had a chance to see my family, go to work to my paid job or clean the house. But doing readings is also exhausting. You soon end up exhausted which is quite different to any other job. If you did not find a way to stem how many you do readings for you would be totally worn out quickly all of the time.
As to the psychics who do it for free lovely, that is your choice, but I have usually found this is easy to do when you are doing it as a hobby. Especially if you have a husband paying the bills. Anyone who does it as a proper full time job, especially a single person, has to charge and should not feel guilty.
I have also found that some who do it for free are not doing this because they are wonderful and kind but because they are desperate to do readings and would rather do it free than not at all. A really good psychic would have to charge to keep people from helping themselves to all of their time.
